At Al Basma British School we strive to deliver high quality music education which engages and inspires pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.
There is: 1)The Music, 2)The Music Business, 3)The Music Industry … Love the 1st, learn the 2nd, be wise to the 3rd
KS3
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. Our high quality music education will engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.
KS4
All learners will be required to take mandatory content that is relevant across a variety of areas of Music, namely planning and creating a collaborative music product in response to a client brief. In addition, learners take optional units that focus on particular specialisms within music, for example, performing, composing, recording or live sound. Our approach provides rigour and balance, and promotes the ability to apply learning immediately in new contexts. The units include guidance on approaches to breadth and depth of coverage and ensure transferable skills like communication, teamwork and research and analysis, which are valued by employers.
